Day 17, or “Going Home … Sort of”

Today we left the ryokan and took a bus back home … er, back to the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo, which seems like home after more than two weeks.  It was a pretty uneventful trip, and since it was raining outside (another typhoon is on it’s way … yay) the whole day, I didn’t feel guilty about not doing much.

But that didn’t last for too long, so once we got back a few of us decided to go and check out the Tokyo National Museum.  We took a cab there, which was a mistake since it ended up costing us around $30 and I think the driver took the long way to get there.  But, we made it, and that’s what’s important.  I think.

The museum was cool because they had a ton of miniature presentations.  I felt like … dare I say it … Godzilla.  Here are a few pics of what we saw:

Miniature Playhouse

Kabuki Reenactment

Miniature Bridge and Boats and People and City

Me on a Tricycle

Miniature Fights

Then it was fun times because I lost my passport, which is only important if I wanted to, oh, say … leave the country and get back home.  Luckily … very luckily … while I was patting myself down looking very confused, a woman who worked at the museum came up to me and said the all-important word “Passport.”  She led me back to a desk and all was well again.  Whew … crisis solved.  Thanks museum lady!

After all that fun we took the subway back.  Instead of $10 a piece, it turned into about two-and-a-half bucks a piece.  That’s better.

When we got back I checked some email (go Brownies … take that BenGALS), got my luggage, and took a nap before going out for some dinner.  What’s for dinner?  Why, sushi of course.
