Day 20, or “The
Longest Day of My Life, Part II”
Well, today is
the day to leave forever and ever. I
got up, cleaned up, and went down to my final buffet breakfast. On the way down, I was pleasantly surprised to
run into a bunch of people I had been hanging out with, so we were able to hang
out for breakfast one last time.
After breakfast
and some more goodbyes, we waited for our particular bus to take us to the
airport. I was a bit lucky, in that my
flight was an early one, so I got to get out with an early group and get going
a bit early. As we left, we waved
goodbye to the staff of the hotel for one final time:

When
we got to the airport in Narita (about an hour or so away from our hotel), we
check our baggage and went through customs and then had to wait a bit for our
2:00 pm flight. I did some last minute
shopping and soon got on the plane.
The flight back to Chicago from Japan was about 11 hours of good times. Good thing I didn’t have 1st Class seats! Although, I shouldn’t be complaining seeing as I didn’t even have to pay for anything. But 11 hours is a long time. I slept a bit at the start of the flight, but couldn’t sleep much after that. We ate a bunch of times and watched some movies, which was cool, ‘cause I finally got to see Spiderman II. Quick question: why does MaryLou love Peter Parker? He’s awkward, dorky, without a real job, and doesn’t return any of her advances. Makes no sense. Oh, young love.
The best part of
the trip was the uber-turbulence. Not
once, not twice, but THRICE! Good
times. That may have been one reason I
wasn’t able to sleep much.
We did finally
return, and once in Chicago, I met a lady who teaches on the east side, so we
talked for a bit.
An interesting
side-note: in Chicago, we were about to depart when some guy on our flight had
symptoms similar to a heart attack. So
we had to go back and he had to be removed from the flight. So were about to leave again and some lady
freaks out that he left his stuff on the plane and that the plane would go down
now.
When we did
finally made it home, we took our photo of the trip:

One of the cool
parts of the trip was that even though I had spent about 13 or so hours up in
the air, when I returned to Cleveland, it was only 5:00pm. And since I left at 2:00pm, that means it
only took me three hours to fly from Japan to Cleveland! COOL.
And then my dog
said “hi.”

The end.
